4 Hong Kong Pools to Cool Off This Summer

The summer in Hong Kong can be brutal. Blazing sun and insufferable humidity leave us feeling sweaty all over, but luckily, there are plenty of ways to cool down in the city, from public pools to beaches and even some amazing hotel swimming pools. So, whether you’re looking for a relaxing way to beat the heat or an opportunity to get some exercise, here are some of our favorite hk pools to visit this season!

Located in the Ngau Chi Wan district, this large and modern pool is a great place to swim laps or enjoy the water slides. The pool is about a 10 minute walk from both Diamond Hill and Choi Hung MTR stations, or you can easily catch one of the many buses that stop in the area (from Causeway Bay we normally take the 116 bus).

This gorgeous and well-maintained public swimming pool sits next to the Kowloon Park and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It features a main pool, a training pool and a swimming pond for children, and also has four massive waterslides that are sure to delight both adults and kids!

One of the most popular public swimming pools in the city, this sprawling complex is located at Tsing Yi and includes a main pool, a teaching pool, two leisure pools and a small pool for toddlers. It is also home to a number of unique water installations, including mushroom and tree-shaped fountains and even the fastest waterslide in town!

The best part about this pool is that it’s free to use for residents, so if you happen to live nearby you can always drop in and cool off after work or on the weekends. It’s worth noting, however, that the pool is closed from 1 November to 31 March of each year for maintenance.

A bit of a hidden gem, this secluded pool is located in the midst of the lush greenery of Ma On Shan and overlooks Tolo Harbour. It is a bit of a trek to get there, but if you’re willing to make the journey you won’t be disappointed – this is a beautiful pool! Its only drawback is that the entrance fee is slightly more expensive than some of the other city pools, but it’s still worth a visit!

While public pools and beaches are great for cooling off, there’s something extra special about splashing around in a hotel pool while sipping on a tipple. Thankfully, Hong Kong isn’t short on fabulous hotel pools and this article will show you some of our favorites, including where to grab a day-use pass!
