SGP Pools

SGP pools are a safe, affordable and low-maintenance alternative to in-ground swimming pools. They are built above ground and only require excavation when they are lowered into place. Once installed, they are an excellent option for the whole family to enjoy and provide years of reliable service! The pools are easy to maintain and can be easily cleaned, requiring no chemicals or mechanical equipment. They are also highly energy efficient and can be heated to a comfortable temperature.

The SGP pool consists of a fiberglass-reinforced basin that is constructed above-ground and lowered into place. The basin is surrounded by a steel and fiberglass decking system, which is securely anchored to the concrete foundation. The pool is then filled with fresh water, and a pump and filter are installed to circulate the fresh water. The result is clean, healthy, and sparkling-blue swimming water. The pool can be accessed through a lockable access door, which provides security and safety for children and pets.

In its latest financial year, Singapore Pools collected close to S$9 billion, with 70% of the total winnings returned to customers. The remaining 22% was collected by the government as tax revenue and 5% channelled to the Tote Board for re-direction to charities and grants that support the arts, community development, education, health, and sports sectors. Its operations are regulated by the World Lottery Association, ensuring it adheres to established international standards of operation and conduct.

Its employees are passionate about doing good for the community and believe in being a responsible corporate citizen. They volunteer for activities held all year round, including helping disadvantaged and youth-at-risk families, assisting the elderly, and conserving the environment. They also take part in fundraising events for NGOs that help the less fortunate.

Despite the current economic climate, Singapore Pools has remained resilient and is committed to investing in its staff to ensure that they can meet the needs of their customers and remain competitive in the marketplace. This is reflected in the company’s continued emphasis on training, talent management, and innovation. It has a strong reputation for integrity and customer-centricity, which is reflected in the high number of customers that return to its retail outlets.

As the world’s most successful state-owned gambling organisation, Singapore Pools has become a trusted name that is synonymous with fairness and trustworthiness. But it’s not without its challenges – including a COVID-19 pandemic and an ongoing digital transformation. This month, we sat down with Yeo Teck Guan, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Pools, to learn more about his change management approach and the digital strategy that’s transforming this legacy organisation into an agile, digitally empowered business.

Yeo and his team set out to transform Singapore Pools’ traditional counter-service based and in-person customer touchpoints, but they were also keen to work with the authorities on combating illegal betting activity. In addition, they introduced a new customer-facing platform that allows customers to onboard and manage their accounts online and bet with confidence. The move was a significant success, and has contributed to the company’s increased digital engagement with its customers.
