The BOCHK Prize and the HK Global Development Prize

The Board of the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize has announced its Laureates for 2023. They include Prof. Jia Jiaya of the University of Hong Kong in the “STIP in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics” category, Prof. Wong Siu Lun Alan of the University of Hong Kong in the “STIP of Life and Health” category, and Dr. Au Man Ho Allen and Prof. Xiapu Daniel of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the “STIP of New Materials and New Energy” category.

The HK Global Development Prize is calling for ideas from the public to support Hong Kong’s international development efforts and shape its future role in the world. The competition offers a prize of HK$5,000 and the chance to make a real difference to those in need.

In order to safeguard the fairness of the draw, a number of measures have been put in place by the HK Jockey Club. Among others, all balls used in the draws are rigorously tested and inspected before and after each draw to ensure that they are free from any defect. Employees of the HKJC’s security and customer service departments are also on hand to oversee the entire process, from boxing to transport.

As part of the celebrations for the Year of the Snake, a series of special racing jackpots will be offered at the upcoming Mark Six Chinese New Year Snowball draw on February 2. With a top prize of up to HK$188 million, this is the largest mark six bonus payout ever for a single winning unit.

The Hong Kong Academy of Medicine’s Young Fellows Prize has been established to recognise excellence in research conducted by young members. The award is open to principal authors of research papers published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to the monetary reward, the winner will have the opportunity to present their research to key stakeholders in the development sector.

The award aims to encourage young researchers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area to develop a scientific spirit and contribute to society. The Selection Committee will review the submitted papers, select the best researches and nominate the winners. The Selection Committee shall comprise distinguished scientists who are experts in their fields. Its functions include reviewing the applications; suggesting important scientific research fields for THE PRIZE; appointing members of the Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; setting requirements for nominating experts; verifying and approving the final review results, and more. It is the highest decision-making body of THE PRIZE. If any awardee violates the provisions of the Charter, the Board has the right to terminate the award and withdraw the prize money, certificate, and trophy. The Board reserves the right to take other disciplinary actions according to the situation.
