The first, sgpData, specifies data in the WIDE format that is used with lower level SGP functions like studentGrowthPercentiles and studentGrowthProjections. The other two, sgptData_LONG and sgpdb_LONG, specify data in the LONG format that is used by higher level SGP functions such as abcSGP and prepareSGP. If you are attempting to run any analyses other than the basic ones, we recommend using the sgptData_LONG data set.
The SGPdata package includes a function, getSgpData, that allows you to access any of the examples. This function can be used to test out different SGP analyses and to generate reports to use in the classroom. It can be used by both teachers and administrators to understand the impact of different instructional practices on students’ academic progress. It can also be used to compare the effects of instructional changes across groups of students or over time. The results of this comparison can be useful in identifying the best ways to support student learning. The results of this process are called SGP scores.
