The Hongkong Prize and Other Awards to Enhance Your Career
hongkong prize is an independent merit-based award that recognizes scientific research with societal benefits. Past winners include journalists who expose human rights abuses, activists fighting for democracy in their countries, and community service workers empowering marginalized communities. Candidates are selected based on their achievements, regardless of race, nationality, religion, gender, or age. No more than five individuals or teams can be awarded in each field of the HK Prize per year. Moreover, the same individual or team should not receive the prize twice within a 5-year period.
Students who wish to participate in the Hong Kong Student Prize must be nominated by their teachers. They can submit up to three works online before the submission deadline. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony. Besides monetary prizes, winning the competition can help aspiring writers establish their reputations and increase their exposure in media outlets. However, it’s important for applicants to read the rules and regulations carefully before submitting their entries. This will prevent costly mistakes that may jeopardize their chances of winning.
This year, nine artists from Hong Kong made it to the Art Prize shortlist – an all-time record for this prestigious event. The selection included paintings that explored themes of honour and disgrace. One of the highlights was Noormah Jamal’s Did the Seed Grow?, which was inspired by her childhood in the city’s slums. The artwork was auctioned off for SAF’s Make it Better program, which provides expressive arts workshops to children in disadvantaged communities.
In addition to the HK Prize, there are several other awards that can enhance your career and boost your resume. For example, the Asia Scholars Book Prize encourages undergraduate and postgraduate students to conduct research on Hong Kong studies, relations with China, and new theories and concepts in studying Hong Kong history, politics, society, and culture. This competition is held at the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) conferences, which bring together over 20,000 scholars, civil society representatives, practitioners, and academicians from around the world.
The HK Prize is open to residents of Southeast Asia, mainland China, and the rest of the world. Interested applicants can visit the World of Winners splash page starting March 1 to register for a chance to win. The winning team will be flown to Hong Kong for an unforgettable experience of this fascinating city while immersing themselves in its culture.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2023 is designed to reward scientists and research-related institutions based in Hong Kong for their significant contributions to the advancement of scientific and technological innovation and transformation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, and Advanced Manufacturing. The nomination process is managed by the Board of the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, which includes a Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team.
