Singapore Pools Is a World Class Responsible Gaming Operator
Founded on 23 May 1968, Singapore Pools provides safe and trusted betting to counter illegal gambling. The $6B+ provider of Singapore lottery and sports betting is committed to being a world class responsible gaming operator, as well as a company that cares for its employees and community.
In the last fiscal year, it gave back to the community through the Singapore Pools Foundation and Tote Board by channeling more than $2 billion in revenue to support charitable organisations and community development initiatives. Its contributions also helped to offset operating costs.
To promote its responsible gaming message to customers, the organisation utilises its nationwide digital signage network across more than 170 outlets and branches. By using PADS4 to display event messages and betting updates, Singapore Pools can educate its customers about playing with care and playing within their means.
As part of their efforts to foster a culture of innovation, Singapore Pools approached Collective Campus to deliver two one day tech crash-courses to 40 employees. The courses covered ideation methods, key innovation tools and emerging technologies that can help improve their business model. The sessions were well-received and helped the team become more creative in their work.
Achieved NS Mark (Gold) accreditation in recognition of the company’s support for National Service and Total Defence. Launched an eBetslip app that allows cash customers to track their betting expenses, replacing the paper bet slip used at outlets. Launched iShine Cloud, a non-profit IT social enterprise that provides other charities with a suite of social service sector-specific software via a secured cloud-based platform at a subsidised rate.
Received the Employer of Choice award for its practices in hiring and managing people that contribute to a happy and healthy workplace. Singapore Pools is one of only four organisations in the country to have received this prestigious award this year.
The organisation’s commitment to a healthy and inclusive workplace also saw it win the Healthier Life Award for its wellness initiatives for its employees. This includes an Employee Assistance Programme that provides counselling and psychotherapy to help employees manage stress and mental illness.
In addition to its wellness offerings, the company has also adopted an open-door policy for employees to seek help from the management and HR department if they are suffering from personal or family matters. The company also has a dedicated hotline that is available to all employees.
In January 2022, the company was recognised as a ‘Company of Good’ by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre for its commitment at national level towards corporate purpose and contributing to five key impact areas: Society, People, Governance, Environment, and Economy. In addition to this, the company has set up iShine Cloud, a charity that helps other charities to improve their productivity, governance and efficiency through a secure cloud-based IT platform. iShine Cloud is supported by the IT infrastructure of Singapore Pools and offers charity organisations affordable and integrated solutions that are tailored to their specific needs.
